Privacy policy
The short version
- Your quit lives on your phone.
- We keep one backup of it with your account, only so it comes back on a new phone.
- Your habit, or the name you typed for it, never shows up in your squad, widgets or usage stats.
- Notifications and anything you share never name porn or betting, or a habit you named yourself. A smoking, vaping or doomscrolling receipt you share says what you quit; you see it before you send it.
- No ads. We don’t sell your data or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can delete everything from the app, any time.
What we keep, and why
| What | Details | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your account | An account ID, and the email Apple or Google gives us when you sign in. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; we then get a private relay address. | To sign you in and keep your backup with your account. |
| Your quit (backup) | What you’re quitting (if you named it yourself, the name you typed), your quit date, slips, check-ins, cravings, what the habit cost you, what you’re saving for (if you set a goal), and your reminder times. | Only to restore your quit when you sign in on a new phone. Only your account can read it. |
| Your squad (Pro, optional) | The name you type for your squad, your streak as a number, the preset messages you send (like “you got this”), and a notification token if you turn squad notifications on. | So friends you invite can see your streak and cheer you on. They never see your habit. |
| Sign in with Apple | A token from Apple that we keep on our server. | So we can tell Apple to forget the sign-in when you delete your account. |
| Purchases | Apple handles payment; we never see your card. Our subscription service gets your account ID and whether Pro is active, plus the device and app details it needs to show the right offer. | To unlock Pro on your account. |
| Usage stats (optional) | Which screens and buttons get used (for example “slip logged”), with a random ID that isn’t linked to your account. Never your habit or anything you type, and we discard IP addresses. | To see what helps and what to build next. Turn it off in Settings › Privacy. |
What stays on your phone
Everything you enter is saved on your phone first; the backup is a copy. Reminders are scheduled by your phone, and the widget reads your streak from your phone.
Who helps us run Ditched
We use a few service providers, and they may only use the data to provide their service to us:
- Supabase stores accounts, backups and squads.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in. Apple also handles payments.
- Expo delivers squad notifications to your phone (they never name your habit).
- Superwall shows the Pro offer and keeps track of your subscription.
- PostHog receives the anonymous usage stats, if you leave them on.
We don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers. We would only disclose it if the law requires us to.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Settings (the gear on Home) › Delete account › Delete for good. That deletes your account, your backup, your squad membership, your streak and your messages from our servers, tells Apple to forget your sign-in, and clears the app on your phone. It can’t be undone.
Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Pro subscription, because Apple bills it. Cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Usage stats aren’t linked to you, so they can’t be traced back to you after you delete your account.
Keeping it safe
Data travels over encrypted connections. On our servers, each account can only read its own backup, and squad members can only see the name and streak of people in their squad.
Who Ditched is for
Ditched is for adults. It isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Ditched is a self-help app, not medical care. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) in the US.

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
